Echinocactus grusonii
A cactus plant commonly used in Phoenix landscapes for it’s unusual round form and glowing spines. Despite common belief, barrel cactus cannot be harvesting for drinking water. The succulent stores water in the stem, but it also contains acids and alkaloids. These chemicals are unpalatable and can be toxic if ingested.
