Chance Phillips is a fiber artist whose lifelong love of color and texture led her to begin felting 14 years ago. She works with wet felting—transforming wool into felt using soap, water, and friction—and needle felting, which uses a barbed needle. Most recently, Chance has developed a method she refers to as “painting with wool”; with the barbed needle serving as a “brush,” she layers and shades carded, dyed wool fibers to create unique, colorful pieces.
Her works can be seen at the Cattle Track Arts Compound and at Andaz Scottsdale—where her permanent installation, “World So Full,” welcomes guests from around the world. As Artist in Residence at the resort, she loves sharing the art and joy of felting.
